You are the idiot and SHAME on YOU for patronizing everyone on this site who have VERY real symptons. You’re jumping on the government bandwagon with the politically correct spiel of “it’s not the vaccine”; well of course, they don’t want lawsuits OR to be seen as monsters who are using military/civilians as guinea pigs (all civilians deploying are required to have these shots as well). When a group has the same type of symptoms you look for the common denominator, in this case, it is Anthrax. I’ve been in Iraq for 14 months and of course had an Anthrax shot (so far, thankfully, only one…somehow I have fallen through the cracks). I have been terrified of my lack of memory for about a year now. Just as I am about to say something, I totally forget what I was talking about. This has happened before in my life, of course, but I promptly remember what I was going to say. Now, I can’t remember and it has gotten so frequent and so intense (the memory loss) that it has really made me afraid of neurological disorders. I have totally erased things from my mind (I know this as people I run into here from other deployments mention events that were significant enough to remember and I remember none of it-they of course look at me as if I was crazy). After speaking with a friend here, she said that memory loss is a symptom of the Anthrax vaccine and after some research it seems to be true. I also have some minor pain in my hips and fingers but I attributed that to getting older (though I’m only 39). So Michael, just because you are not experiencing it, and disregarding the fact that so many are, does not mean it isn’t real. And to insult people who are suffering on top of that is adding salt to the wound. And since you seem to like insults, you being a Medic, E-5 no less, does not make you an expert on any level so you would do much better not to have mentioned that; after all, we all know the reputation the military medic field has, so keep your uninformed, asinine comments to yourself and respect those who are suffering.

There was a great deal of data gathered on the anthrax shot. There is even a registry for all adverse reactions to medicines given by the military. It is a very interesting read.

There are quite a few items that are attributed to the anthrax shot and alot that are not – but can be attributed to PTSD and other issues. There are actually 3 prodominate reactions to the anthrax shot that I researched – the injection if it was mixed on the same arm with another injection (forget which one) but both did not play nice in the sandbox. I believe that resulted in muscle and neurological issues.

Then the shot was clearly labelled to not take if you were viral or feverish. I was threatened with BCD if I did not take the shot and my CO told the doctor I was lying about being sick (although coughing up green snot should have been a clue). Basically until you get exposed to baccillus or anthrax – you will have allergies and sinus migraines, etc. Once exposed – you will get full blown asthma and your allergies will mutate on a reoccuring basis (normal adult allergies do not change once you receive them – only children outgrow allergies).

Then the final reaction is the due to the fermatation process. During the middle period (govt started then stopped then started up again, then stopped after 2003ish to start up again once the manufacturer got FDA approval again) – at the point where they started up again, one of the manufacturers of the vaccine had changed their fermentation process. Some batches were over-fermented causing plasibo’s and others were underfermented basically giving live vaccines – that was why they stopped again. However if you were like my unit, they did not capture any of our lot and batch numbers on our shot records so that we could match up. And if you remember – the series of shots, you HAD to take them in the series and all of them or else you caused issues. It is like not finishing a antibiotic prescription. There were multiple side effects because of this dependant on both exposure to allergens and other injections as well as mixture in your system. Each body has multiple different reactions to the cocktail in their system and environmental factors – not like they send soldiers to healthy and “clean” barracks/camps/tents/etc. There was even a bacteria that got into peoples lungs in Fort Eustis VA but they had to take a sample of the lungs to find it and we all know how long it would take doctors to figure out where/what to look at.

I am their hanging chad for the anthrax shot causing some of the lung damages for the Gulf War Syndrome. I was viral during 2 of the three shots (under BCD threat) and got the shots during the fermatation process – underfermented batch. I started having issues and went asthmatic at one work building. I had an environmental study done that proved the baccillus was the cause of my asthma attacks. I am still fighting as the military has given me 0% disability for this even with a Walter Reed Pulmonologist stating in the line of duty. I have spent over $90k out of pocket for medication and medical care because of being denied access to military doctors and still cannot breathe, have high blood pressure (stress related), iron deficiency anemia (although lung medication causes significant weight gain) and serious sinus migraines and sleep apneia because I cannot breathe. Pulmonologist stated that my lungs were like a fire-fighter getting burned in a building. I will die from this according to the doctor. I am a single parent and over 18 years in the military and now being denied retirement if I do not fight.

Arthritis is actually due to joint damage and although the muscle may be a contributing factor, more than likely the arthritis is from a forgotten injury (twisted ankle, dislocated knee, etc.) where the cartelidge failed. Once you get one area that is arthritic – it can spread elsewhere as the joints deteriorate – simple asprin, diet and vitamins will help slow this down. I have a major knee injury that is osteoarthritic and moved to wrists/ankles but anthrax shot is not to blame.

Depression and other psychological issues can come from trying to deal with the failing health and the frustration of fighting. Remember that some people only take a nail break to freak and claim PTSD, while others are prone to violent/anger outbursts (Real Vet) while others have external stressers such as divorce or relationships because of bad health that can cause the other psychological reactions. Sleep disturbances, depression, etc. are caused by those items and not anthrax shot. It is not like it is not a significant amount of stress to have to deal with and everyone reacts to stress differently and stress does/will affect your body badly (miscarriages, bladder infections, high blood pressure, depression, insomnia, etc).

But regardless of all the above – remember – you are not alone. Many of us have had this and worse (loss of limbs to where they cannot do any work whatsoever).

There was a navy ship back after Vietnam that they conducted radiation experiments on the sailors without permission. All the sailors got cancer and died without knowing where their illnesses came from. Agent orange and other “asprin” received during storm/shield that caused miscarriages, etc.

And for Real Vet & other angry people – we are all proud to have served and miss our brothers and sisters who have died in the line of duty whether in combat or at home. Many of these people may be trying to save their families, lives and others may be milking the system – there will always be those who should not even be part of humanity BUT I will be damned if I will let others get sick with what I have if I can stop it or refuse to help others with questions if I know the answer… Soldiers/Marines/Sailors take care of their miitary family when and if they can. You really should look for other reasons to be angry than people asking if their illnesses are military related – redirect that energy to help take care of those people who have lost limbs or lost their families to war.

DJ, you are a bright one. If your reading is as bad as your spelling, then i understand your frustration. Look up a few posts at my original post. “Real Veteran’s” response on this thread was inappropriate. I was merely criticizing his response. I am active duty, and i sympathize with all active and vets with disabilities. As for “shooting me in the head and burying me in a ditch”, maybe you should be evaluated for PTSD.

i do beleive that ptsd is bullshit though anybody can get it put in there file and its sad alot of people file for it just to get paid for the rest of there lives. i could understand if you were stuck in a prison camp in vietnam forever, but come on people just cause you go over seas for a year all of a sudden your all fucked up and you didnt even leave the fob. suck it up and stop cryin cause your pussy got sand in it!

“Real” Vet, you make a good point. Lets tell all the vets with PTSD, mental disorders, breast cancer related to contaminated drinking water, agent orange recipients, and all others that they are lucky to be alive after serving their country. Then we can use the money saved to buy you high and tight haircuts for the rest of your pathetic life.

By the way: a squadron mate F-16 pilot from the war had a brain tumor develop (he had brain surgery), and his civilian doctor says he estimates it started growing about the time of his first anthrax shot.

If you live in one of the 13 states that have medical marijuana get it asap it works pretty good. If you don’t live in one of the 13 you should research them and find out which state you fit into best and move there. We should all also figure out how to unite our voices protest the VA hospitals if need be because help ain’t comming any time soon. Look how long it took vets that are suffering from agent orange.

I too have been fighting with unexplained migrains and 2 years ago I was put on Amitryptaline by a military doctor to control the headaches. I have suffered from arthritis in my lower back an many skin/dermatitis infections. I am good as long as I am taking some sort of antibiotic but as soon as they are out my system I get sick with some sort of other illness or skin disease. I just recently had to have part of my saliva gland in my left cheek removed because of an infection and a benign mass. I am 40 years old and have been found unfit for retention because of my arthritis, headaches and reliance of pain medications.

Here’s another TRUE story about anthrax vaccinations. My cousin joined the Air force in 2003. She was in boot camp for exactly 2 weeks. She is now %100 disabled. She had an adverse affect to an anthrax vaccination given to her 24 hrs earlier. Her medical record and all record of her anthrax vaccination is NO WHERE to be found. She and her parents even tried to have Congressman Jeff Miller help them. His office was told told that the record was simply “lost”. Now, anyone who has ever been associated with the military KNOWS how anal retentive they are about records and record keeping. Me thinks cover-up? No medical proof that THIS is what caused her to have a complete and total mental breakdown, severe headaches, body and muscle pain to this day. Now….2 weeks in boot camp….no medical records…but yet she was retired…at %100 after spending 3 MONTHS recovering in the hospital? When are ppl going to wake up and realize, WE…THE PEOPLE need to do something about the TESTING of vaccines on sailors and soldiers!!! And for anyone who says this is in my head, I can only say to you…I wish it was just in my head.
