Dollar Tree stores has recalled mini glue guns because of a defect that causes the glue guns to short circuit. According to the Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC), when this happens, the glue guns can cause fires, and users can experience serious injuries.
According to the CPSC, the Dollar Tree glue gun recall involves 253,000 “Crafters Square Hot Melt Mini Glue Guns” manufactured in China and imported by Greenbrier International Inc., of Chesapeake, Va. The defective glue guns dispense hot glue, and are intended as a tool for craft projects. The recalled glue guns were sold at Dollar Tree, Dollar Bill$, Dollar Express, Greenbacks, Only One $1, and Deal$ stores nationwide from February 2007 through August 2007 for about $1.
The recalled Dollar Tree glue gun is black with a yellow trigger and is approximately 4 1/2 inches from the back of the gun to the tip. Attached is a 44-inch electrical cord. “Crafters Square” and product number 818261-72 or 818261-75 are located on the guns’ packaging.
According to the Dollar Tree glue gun recall notice, the recalled glue guns can short circuit, causing the gun to smoke and catch fire. This poses fire, burn and shock hazards to consumers. Dollar Tree said it had received reports of seven incidents in which the defective glue guns short circuited. At least two injuries involving electrical shocks and burns have been tied to the faulty glue guns.
Consumers who purchased one of these recalled Dollar Tree Glue Guns should return it to the store where it was purchased immediately. Dollar Tree is offering full refunds for the defective glue guns.
