The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), in cooperation with Reebok-CCM Hockey U.S. Inc., of Montpelier, Vermont, has just issued a recall of about 1,000 Reebok Hockey Helmets due to a head and neck injury hazard.  The recalled hockey helmets were manufactured in Canada.  The helmet’s chinstrap can unexpectedly disengage while in use, which can cause the helmet to fall off, posing a head and neck injury risk to consumers, said the CPSC.  To date, no injuries have been reported.

This Reebok Hockey Helmet recall involves the RBK and CCM brand hockey helmets reported the CPSC, which noted that the recalled Reebok Hockey Helmets bear a HECC sticker with date code JUN – 2013.  The HECC stickers and model numbers are located on the back of the helmets.  The recalled Reebok Hockey Helmets were sold at sporting goods stores nationwide and via Internet retailers from May 2008 through July 2008 and retailed for between $80 and $200.

The CPSC is advising consumers to immediately stop using and return the recalled Reebok Hockey Helmets to the place of purchase for a free replacement helmet. Reebok-CCM can be reached at (800) 451-4600 between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or at its Website at www.reebokhockey.com and http://en.ccmsports.com.  The following Reebok Hockey Helmet brands, models, and colors are included in the recall:

• Model number HT8K in the following helmet shell colors:  Black/Black, Black/Silver, White/Silver, Navy, Red, Green, Maroon, Yellow.
• Model number HT6K in the following helmet shell colors:  Black, White, Navy, Red, Royal.
• Model number HT6K Combo in the following helmet shell colors:  Black, White, Navy, Red, Royal.
• Model number HT4K in the following helmet shell colors:  Black, Navy, Red, Royal.
• Model number HT4K Combo in the following helmet shell colors:  Navy, Red, Royal.

Brand CCM:

• Model number HTV10 in the following helmet shell color:  Yellow.
• Model number HTV10 Combo in the following helmet shell color:  Black.    Model HTV08 in the following helmet shell colors:  Black, White, Royal, Yellow.
• Model HTV08 Combo in the following helmet shell colors: Black, Medium Black, White, Navy, Royal.
• Model HT692 in the following helmet shell colors:  White, Navy.
