The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced that Rashti & Rashti of New York City is expanding a voluntary recall of about Taggies™ Sleep ‘n Play Infant Garments to include 16,000 more garments. An additional 6,200 of the Taggies™ Sleep ‘n Play Infant Garments were recalled on July 1, 2008. The recall was initiated because the snaps on the Taggies™ Sleep ‘n Play Infant Garments can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.
Last year’s recall involved two Taggies™ Sleep ‘n Play style Infant Garments: The Butterfly Appliqué in purple and the Fun Dog Print in blue and white. That recall involved Taggies™ Sleep ‘n Play Infant Garments in sizes 0-3 months, 3-6 months, and 6-9 months. Following that recall, two additional Taggies Sleep ‘n Play styles—both manufactured prior to July 1, 2008—were also identified as having similar issues with the snaps.
Now, the recall has been expanded to include the Dinosaur Appliqué and the Pink Toss Print styles. The infant garments are one-piece footed coveralls with snaps down the front and were sold in sizes 0-3 months, 3-6 months, and 6-9 months. RN #27829 is printed on the care label, which is sewn into the garment and the garment’s style numbers are printed on the garment’s hangtag. The complete list of style numbers follows:

Size 0-3 month with style number T20615H and UPC 0-22253-20615-2.
Size 0-6 month with style number T20616H and UPC 0-22253-20616-9.
Size 6-9 month with style number T20617H and UPC 0-22253-20617-6.
Pink Toss Print Sleep ‘n Play in Pink and White:
Size 0-3 month with style number T21317H and UPC 0-22253-21317-4.
Size 3-6 month with style number T21318H and UPC 0-22253-21318-1.
Size 6-9 month with style number T21319H and UPC 0-22253-21319-8.
The recalled Taggies™ Sleep ‘n Play Infant Garments were made in China and sold at Babies R Us, Buy Buy Baby, Dillards, Nordstrom, and other specialty stores nationwide, as well as through Internet retailers from January 2007 through November 2008. The recalled Taggies™ Sleep ‘n Play Infant Garments retailed for about $20.
The CPSC is advising consumers to immediately take these garments away from children and contact Rashti & Rashti to receive a refund. Each year, CPSC receives about 15 reports of choking deaths to children under age the age of three and some of these deaths involve items that are considered known hazards such as small toys, toy parts, balloons, balls and marbles, but others occur due to hidden hazards and involve small objects not intended for use by children but that accidentally end up in their hands and mouths.
