The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) just announced three more recalls involving a furnace due to a fire hazard, bicycle stands for a fall hazard, and boys pajamas for a burn hazard.

The Air Conditioning Division of Rheem Manufacturing Co., of Fort Smith, Arkansas—the manufacturer of the defective product—is recalling about 14,000 Rheem, Ruud and United Refrigeration Oil-Fired Furnaces because if the furnace is not properly wired, the oil burner can continue to operate when the blower shuts off, which poses a fire hazard to consumers.  To date, Rheem has received one report in which the furnace was incorrectly wired.  The recalled Rheem furnaces were sold nationwide by contractors from January 2006 through December 2008 as part of installed systems for between $1,500 and $10,000.

The recalled oil-fired furnaces, which were made in the U.S. are sold under the Rheem, Ruud, and United Refrigeration brands with date codes ending in 0106 through 5206, 0107 through 5207, or 0108 through 4808 with the following model numbers and brand names.  Note that the model number and date code (designated by the four digits following an “M” in the middle of the serial number) are printed on the unit’s rating plate, which can be found on the left wall of the furnace’s interio,r just above the burner.  The rating plate can be found by opening the unit’s burner access door, which has slotted openings.  The CPSC advises consumers to immediately contact the contractor who installed the oil furnace for a free inspection and repair.  Rheem can be reached toll-free at (800) 577-3960 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, or at its Website at www.rheemac.com :

Manufacturer Saris Cycling Group, of Madison, Wisconsin is recalling 2,000 of its Stationary Bicycle Trainers because a handle pin on the bicycle trainer can loosen during use, causing the machine to become disengaged, which poses a fall hazard to consumers.  The recalled trainers are a stationary frame that allows bicycles to be converted into stationary bicycles. The recalled models include: CycleOps Pro Series Trainer models 9014 (SuperMagneto Pro), 9331 (JetFluid Pro), 9460 (PowerBeam Pro), 9321 (JetFluid Pro Winter Training Kit), and 9322 (SuperMagneto Pro Winter Training Kit) without the secondary locking pin. The model number and style names are printed on the left side of the main frame of the trainer.  The recalled Saris Bicycle Trainers were made in the U.S. and were sold by independent bicycle retailers nationwide from October 2008 through November 2008 for between about $400 and $1200.  The CPSC is advising consumers with the recalled bicycle trainers to immediately stop using the product and cont
act Saris Cycling Group to receive a replacement trainer.  Saris can be reached toll-free at (800) 783-7257 between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, at its Website at www.cycleops.com, or via email at custsrv@saris.com

Mad Dog Concepts is recalling about 25,000 of its Tony Hawk Boy’s Pajama Sets which were made in Cambodia and imported by Mad Dog Concepts, of New York, NY because the sleepwear fails to meet the federal children’s sleepwear flammability standard, and poses a risk of burn injury to children.  The CPSC announced that the recall involves the following skateboard-themed boy’s pajama sets: “Boards Estate” (item # TH005LSB), “Heathen Skull” (item #TH006BSB), “Backspray” (item #TH007GSB), and “Stix Jester” (item #TH008RSB).  The name of the product and item number are sewn in the neck and pant; the items were sold in sizes 4 to 14 for about $30 at Kohl’s Department Stores nationwide from September 2008 through October 2008.  The CPSC is advising consumers to stop using the recalled pajamas immediately and contact the firm for instructions on obtaining a full refund.  Mad Dog Concepts can be reached toll-free at (888) 623-3640 between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
