CPSC Announces ExerSaucer Evenflo Recall Over Fall Hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) just announced that Evenflo issued a recall for its ExerSaucer Children’s Activity Centers due to fall hazard.  The CPSC is advising that consumers stop using the recalled Children’s Activity Centers, as indicated in its instructions below.

About 213,000 Evenflo Children’s Activity Centers, manufactured by the Evenflo Company Inc., of Miamisburg, Ohio are involved in the recall.  It seems that when the Children’s Activity Centers are used as an activity table, the cap on one end of the table can loosen and fall off, which poses a fall hazard to young children.

To date, reported the CPSC, Evenflo has received 11 reports of dislodged end caps which resulted in nine minor injuries, including bumps and bruises.  Evenflo has also received a report of a dislodged end cap that resulted in a child suffering a broken collarbone in Canada.

The Evenflo recall involves the Evenflo ExerSaucer Triple Fun Stationary Activity Centers which were made between October 2006 and December 2008.  The recalled Children’s Activity Centers contain model number is 6231711.  Of note, the “Stage 3” position involves converting the Activity Center into an activity table.  No other ExerSaucer models use end caps and, therefore, no other models are included in this recall, said the CPSC.

The recalled Children’s Activity Centers Evenflo ExerSaucer Triple Fun product was sold at juvenile product and mass merchandise stores nationwide, including Toys ‘R Us and Burlington Baby Depot, from October 2006 through February 2009.  The Activity Center retailed for about $120 and was made in the United States.

The CPSC is advising consumers to immediately stop using the Activity Table in the Stage 3 position and to contact Evenflo to receive a free replacement end cap.  The Activity Table may continue to be used in Stages 1 and 2 without changes.

Consumers can contact Evenflo toll-free at (800) 233-5921 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or by accessing the firm’s Website at www.exersaucertriplefun.com.
