Children’s Loungewear, Backyard Play Systems, and Hair Dryers have been recalled for violation of federal flammability standards, fall hazards, and electrocution hazards, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is reporting.
Warm Biscuit Bedding Children’s Loungewear
About 9,500 Children’s Loungewear Garments distributed by Warm Biscuit Bedding Company of New York, New York have been recalled because the loungewear fails to meet children’s sleepwear federal flammability standards requiring sleepwear, including loungewear, to be either snug fitting or flame resistant. This recall involves loungewear sets for children described as “Lounge-Around-the-Housewear,” “Lounge-About-Housewear,” or “Short Sets.” The garments were sold in a variety of styles, colors and printed fabrics: S (1-2 yr), M (2-3 yr), L (3-4 yr), XL (4-5 yr), 6 yr, 7 yr and 8 yr; style numbers 301101, 301102, and 301103. All the garments have a label on the inside stating: “These garments do NOT comply with the Federal Flammability Standards and therefore are not suitable for sleepwear”; style numbers are located on the packaging.
The recalled Children’s Loungewear was sold by Warm Biscuit Bedding catalogs and Web site from January 2000 through March 2009 for between $39 and $45 and were manufactured in China and the United States. The CPSC is advising consumers to stop using the recalled Children’s Loungewear garments immediately and contact Warm Biscuit Bedding to receive a store credit. Backyard Play Systems Outdoor Playset Gliders
About 1,800 Backyard Play Systems’ Outdoor Playset Gliders have been recalled due to fall hazard and by distributor Backyard Play Systems LLC, of Monroe, Michigan. The Backyard Play Systems’ Outdoor Playset Gliders were recalled because the retaining rings used to secure the gliders to the playset can become loose or detached, posing a fall hazard to children. Backyard Play Systems has received one report of a retaining ring falling off. The recall involves outdoor playset gliders designed to hang from home play equipment.
The green plastic gliders were sold as an accessory to home play equipment marketed under the brand names Heartland Premium Play Systems, Yardline Play Systems, and Backyard Play Systems and were sold by Backyard Buildings and More and Lowe’s stores nationwide and online at Costco.com, BettyMills.com, and BackyardBuildings.com from February 2008 through May 2009 for about $100. The recalled Outdoor Playset Gliders were manufactured in China. The CPSC is advising consumers to immediately stop using the gliders. Backyard Play Systems is notifying all customers directly and is providing a free repair kit, which includes replacement hardware and written instructions. Vintage International Hair Dryers
About 2,300 National and Sanyo Hand-Held Hair Dryers have been recalled by Vintage International due to electrocution hazard. The recalled hair dryers were manufactured in Thailand and imported by Vintage International Inc., of Hacienda Heights, California. The hair dryers were recalled because they are not equipped with an immersion protection device to prevent electrocution if the hair dryer falls into water. Immersion protection devices, which prevent electrocution, are required by industry safety standards for all electric hand-held hair dryers.
The recall involves National and Sanyo hand-held hair dryers, which are made of plastic and chrome with a fold-up handle and were sold in blue, pink, white, and black colors with model numbers EH-5202, EH-5215, EH-5216, EH-7911, EH-7912, or EH-7913. “National” and “Sanyo” can be found on the blower nozzle or handle. The recalled Hand-Held Hair Dryers sold for between $20 and $40 at various retail stores in the Los Angeles area from January 2007 through August 2008. The CPSC is advising consumers to immediately stop using the recalled hair dryers and return them to the store where purchased for a full refund or free replacement.
