The CPSC and Eugster/Frismag, of Switzerland have announced the recall of about 28,000 C1000 Capresso Automatic Coffee Centers because the electrical connectors in the espresso machine can erode, posing a fire hazard.
Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately.
The recalled products were manufactured in Switzerland, imported by Capresso Inc., of Closter, New Jersey, and sold at department stores and independent specialty stores nationwide from July 1999 through October 2005 for about $800.
The firm has received four reports of fires started inside the coffee center. No injuries or property damage have been reported to date.
Consumers should stop using the recalled espresso machines immediately and contact Capresso to arrange for a free repair.
