Baby Jogger LLC of Richmond, Virginia has recalled about 8,400 City Versa Strollers in the United States because the stroller can collapse, posing a fall hazard, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada (HC) just announced. An additional 2,200 strollers were recalled in Canada.
The recall involves Baby Jogger City Versa model strollers manufactured between May 15, 2012 and August 20, 2012. The strollers have charcoal-colored metal frames; the seats and canopies are of black, silver, red, or green fabric. The manufacture date is printed on the black plastic side hinge below the words “Baby Jogger” and “City Versa.” The words “City Versa” are also printed on the stroller’s fabric in the child’s leg area.
Baby Jogger has received six reports of incidents in which the stroller’s frame failed to lock. No injuries have been reported, to date.
The City Versa Strollers were sold at buybuyBaby and other juvenile product stores nationwide and online at buybuybaby.com, albeebaby.com, diapers.com, and other online retailers from July 2012 through October 2012. The strollers retailed for about $450.
