DEL PHARMACEUTICALS ANNOUNCES RECALL OF ORAJEL TODDLER YELLOW MANUAL TOOTHBRUSH BECAUSE OF CHOKING HAZARD

Despite the fact that this product was thoroughly tested before marketing began in August 2004, Del Pharmaceuticals has determined that the toothbrush head can break off under certain use conditions thereby posing a choking hazard to young children. The decision to voluntarily recall all lots of the Orajel Toddler Yellow Manual Toothbrush immediately follows 5 reports of the elastomeric heads breaking during use. No injuries have been reported to date.

Del Pharmaceuticals states that it recalling all of the toothbrushes despite the fact that no injuries have been reported because it remains committed to the quality and safety of all the products it sells. The toothbrush has been sold in drug stores and supermarkets in the U.S. since August 2004. It is yellow with yellow rubber-like bristles. There is a picture of a dancing bear on the handle.

Consumers are urged to stop using the product immediately and return it to the manufacturer for a full refund. Delís Consumer Affairs department can be reached at 1-800-818-1915 or by email at consumer_relations@orajel.com. The recall does not apply to or affect either the Baby Orajel Manual Toothbrush or the Orajel Toddler Battery Toothbrush. Delís website is http://www.dellabs.com.
