About 3,500 cans of <"http://www.yourlawyer.com/practice_areas/product_liability">Fabric Protector manufactured by Claire-Sprayway Inc., of Addison, Illinois are being recalled, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission just announced. The CPSC is advising consumers to stop using the recalled products immediately and notes that it is illegal to resell or to attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
Overexposure to fumes, vapor, or spray mist from the product can pose a serious respiratory hazard to consumers. To date, the firm has received 36 incidents of overexposure to fumes, vapor, or spray mist, 34 of which involved coughing, wheezing, or shortness of breath. One incident resulted in a serious respiratory injury.
The recall involves Fabric Protector, which is an aerosol coating used to protect fabric. The Fabric Protector was sold under the following brand names:

â€¢ Auto Brite Fabric Protector Guardatela
â€¢ Auto MagicÂ® Fabric Protector No. 91-S

â€¢ Falcon LabsÂ® Spotless Fabric Protector
â€¢ Quiltprotectâ„¢ Spray
â€¢ Robbieâ€™sâ„¢ Fabric Shield
â€¢ Showcar Fabric Protector
â€¢ SimonizÂ® System 5 Stain Sentry Fabric Protector.
The can size is 13.5 ounces, and the product code is located on the bottom of the can.
The recalled Fabric Protector, which was manufactured in the US, was sold at automotive supply, auto detailing, upholstery, textiles, furniture, and fabric stores nationwide from January 2005 through August 2010 for about $10.
The CPSC is advising consumers to immediately stop using the recalled product and contact Claire-Sprayway to receive a full refund.
