Lawsuits Claim Engines in Some Ford Super Duty Trucks, Excursion Vehicles are Defective

Ford Motor Company, Inc. and Navistar, Inc. are facing a growing number of lawsuits over the <"">Ford 6L Power Stroke Diesel Engine. Navistar manufactured the 6L Power Stroke Diesel Engine, which was used in 2003-2007 model year Ford F250 / F350 Super Duty Trucks and Ford Excursion vehicles. Class action lawsuits involving these engines have already been filed against Ford and Navistar in California, Utah, Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi.

Ford and Navistar have already faced off in a legal battle over the same engine. In 2007, Ford sued Navistar claiming the Ford 6L Power Stroke Diesel Engine was defective. The automaker also claimed Navistar failed to pay its share of the warranty costs that Ford had to pay in connection with warranty claims filed by owners and lessees of the Ford vehicles.

Plaintiffs involved in the Ford 6L Power Stroke Diesel Engine lawsuits claim to have experienced the following types of problems with these engines:

• Loss of power
• Engine Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler failure
• Oil cooler failure
• Blown head gaskets
• Warped head bolts
• Coolant entering the engine ventilation system

Many of these problems cost thousands of dollars to repair, and some owners of affected Ford F250 /F350 Super Duty Trucks and Excursion vehicles say they have experienced multiple issues with their engines. In addition to big repair bills, owners of these vehicles say they have suffered financially because of loss of use of their vehicles, and the value of their vehicles has diminished because of the defects.

These lawsuits further allege that Ford was aware of the engine’s problems, but concealed them. They point out that even after Ford took Navistar to court in 2007, the company failed to inform consumers of the defects, and continued to boast about the supposed superior performance of the Ford 6L Power Stroke Diesel Engine in its advertising.

Ford 6L Power Stroke Diesel Engine lawsuits seek financial damages for owners of affected F250 / F350 Super Duty trucks and Excursion vehicles, including return of the purchase price of the vehicles, costs and expenses incurred in attempted repairs, and loss of use of the vehicles.
