Playtex Recalls AC-DC Power Adapters Used With Certain Breast Pumps Due to Potential Electric Shocks

Playtex Manufacturing, Inc. has announced that it is nationally recalling some AC/DC power adapters used with specific Playtex breast pumps.

The recalled adapters are sold and used with the Playtex® Nurser Deluxe Double Electric Breast Pump. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announcement indicates that the recalled adapters are tied to potential electric shock risks.

Some of the adapters’ casings may loosen, even separating. If this happens, the potential for an electric shock may occur. As of the notice, no reported injuries associated with the recalled Playtex power adapters have been received.

The involved Playtex power adapters were manufactured from November 2012 through July 2013. The recalled adapters bear the product serial numbers P12324-XXXX through P13205-XXXX and also bear adapter production codes numbered from 1241 through 1324.

The Playtex adapters involved in the recall were sold with the Playtex Nurser Deluxe Double Electric Breast Pump at nationwide and specialty stores, as well as through online retailers.

Playtex, which is a unit of Town and Country-based Energizer Holdings, indicated that the recall is specific to certain AC/DC adapters that were only sold with the Playtex Nurser Deluxe Double Electric Breast Pump, and that the recall is being conducted in collaboration with the FDA.

According to the FDA, Playtex is advising its retail partners to return all remaining products with the recalled AC/DC adapters. Consumers are also advised to immediately cease use of the adapter if the product shows signs of separating.

Consumers who purchased a recalled product should contact Playtex for a replacement by calling, toll-free, at 1.888.207.1429 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time (ET), Monday through Friday. Playtex may also be reached online at
