Three Injured, One Critically, in Two Car Accidents in Brooklyn

In separate car accidents in Brooklyn on Monday night, one man was critically injured and at least two other people were hurt, police said.

Around 7 p.m., a man driving a silver Honda sedan slammed into an Infiniti at the intersection of Ocean Pkwy. and Quentin Rd. in Sheepshead Bay, sending the car into a light pole, the New York Daily News reports. The 37-year-old driver escaped the car as it caught fire, police said. He was rushed to Staten Island University Medical Center with severe burns.  He is listed in grave condition, police said.

Anne-Marie Haak, who lives on the block where the accident occurred, said, “I heard a loud bang and when I looked, the guy got out of the car and he was in flames … He was walking like a zombie, full of flames. He was in shock,” according to the Daily News. “People were screaming, ‘Stop, drop and roll! Stop, drop and roll!'” The other driver was taken to Lutheran Medical Center in stable condition.

Two people were hospitalized following an accident that happened on Coney Island Ave, near Ave. O just before 10 p.m.  Authorities say both victims were in stable condition.
